Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has held a meeting with members of the Parliament Industry
Committee, led by MP Moataz Mahmoud, to discuss its role in supporting local industry and explore the current major challenges faced by the
manufacturing sector.
“Achieving integration between the
legislative and executive authorities is crucial to reach the state’s goals of
inclusive and sustainable economic development,” Samir stressed.
He emphasized the importance of
uniting efforts of all state agencies to boost the industrial sector’s
contribution to GDP from the current 11.7%, through attracting more investments
into existing and new industries, as well as developing value chains.
The ministry, he said, is committed
to streamlining industrial licensing procedures and providing funding
mechanisms for future investment expansions.
