Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has taken part in the 62nd Côte d'Ivoire's National Day celebration
in Cairo, on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, in the presence of
Ambassador Timothy Ezouan and heads of diplomatic missions in Egypt.
“Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire enjoy solid long-standing
mutual ties,” Samir said, noting that Egypt is committed to deeper cooperation
with African countries to achieve the continent’s ambitious goals.
The minister conveyed greetings
from Madbouly to the government and people of Côte d’Ivoire, wishing both
countries more peace and prosperity.
“Economic development in Africa is
one of Egypt’s top priorities, which it seeks to attain through boosting
investment and trade flows, developing infrastructure projects, and supporting
manufacturing plans,” he stressed.
Samir further added that there
are ample investment opportunities for cooperation between the two nations,
especially in the fields of food and engineering industries, agriculture,
mining, energy, construction, textiles, and IT.
Egypt- Côte d’Ivoire trade, he
pointed out, hit $149 million in 2021, up 178.5% from a year earlier, mainly including:
machinery and equipment, electric devices, paper, glass, steel, cocoa, wood and
fruits.
