Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with the board
of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) led by President Ibrahim
al-Arabi, to discuss its targets and plans for the next period and ways to enhance
its role in developing internal trade, increasing exports and stimulating the
national economy.
“The FEDCOC is one of the main arms of the ministry in
implementing the state's objectives of achieving sustainable and inclusive
development,” Gamea noted, stressing its importance in supporting SMEs and integrating
the informal sector into the formal economy, hence boosting economic growth.
Furthermore, the minister listened to the demands of the members,
mostly with regards to reviewing the fees for wholesale markets in a number of
governorates, streamlining procedures of commercial registration, and
establishing additional headquarters for some chambers especially in large
