Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine
Gamea has met with Jordanian Minister of Industry Trade and Supply Yousef al-Shamali,
on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, held in
Cairo and chaired by the prime ministers of both countries.
The meeting explored means to expand
mutual economic ties between Egypt and Jordan, mainly in trade, industry and
investment.
“The Egyptian-Jordanian higher
committee represents a basic pillar for strengthening joint cooperation between
the two nations in all areas of common interest,” Gamea said.
The government, she added, is keen on
making a quantum leap in bilateral relations with Jordan, pointing to continuous
coordination between the two ministries of trade to address the challenges
facing trade flows between their respective markets.
Al-Shamali, for his part, expressed his
country's eagerness to enhance cooperation with Egypt in holding mutual trade
fairs in Cairo and Amman, noting that a potential Jordanian expo will be held in
Egypt during the second half of the year.
He further stressed the importance of
translating the tripartite agreements signed between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq
into concrete cooperation projects that serve the interest of the three peoples.
