trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Bangladesh.
Cairo- Mar 3, 2022
Minister of
Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with Bengali State Minister of Foreign
Affairs Muhammad Alam and his accompanying delegation to explore ways to boost
trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Bangladesh.
The two
sides discussed organizing mutual business missions and encouraging companies
and businessmen to participate in trade fairs held in both countries, as well
as cooperation in the fields of microfinance, women empowerment and agricultural
industrialization.
The meeting
also focused on establishing joint projects in textiles and ready-made
garments, benefitting from Bangladesh’s long experience in the industry, in
addition to exchanging industrial know-how within the Developing-8 (D-8) in terms of training and technical support in the sectors of textiles,
leather and medicines.
The
minister pointed out that bilateral trade between Egypt and Bangladesh does not
reflect their deep historical relations, amounting to $132.5 million dollars in
2020 with Egyptian exports at $88 million, stressing the need to exert more
efforts by both governments and businessmen to facilitate the flow of goods.
