Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has chaired the board meeting of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) to discuss its
action plan during the coming period, as wel asl its potential restructure.
“Modernizing local industry is a major axis of the ministry's
strategy, with the aim of boosting the competitiveness of Egyptian products on domestic and
foreign markets,” Gamea said, stressing the important role played by the IMC in
this respect.
The meeting, she added, comes within the periodic follow-up
of the IMC’s performance, being one of the ministry’s executive arms in
implementing its industrial development strategy across the country.
Among the services provided by the IMC, the center
participated in a number of projects, funded by international donors, including
those within the local development program in Upper Egypt, such as the black honey
cluster in Qena and the furniture complex in Sohag.
Moreover, the IMC coordinated with the European
Development and Reconstruction Bank and the Export Development Bank in joint
projects aimed at raising the competitive capabilities of exporters and opening
new markets.
