Cairo- Apr 13, 2022

Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has issued a decree approving the allocation of 2.5% of the chambers of commerce's cash reserves to offer Ramadan food bags, through a joint committee with governors.

Distribution of the bags will be handled by the governorates or the Ministry of Social Solidarity's directorates, according to a database of the most-vulnerable families in each governorate.

The move comes following a recent meeting held by the ministers of trade and supply with heads of the chambers of commerce, during which they stressed the importance of strengthening the societal role of the private sector in the provision of goods at reasonable prices.

"Over 160,000 Ramadan bags will be distributed by the chambers of commerce in 19 governorates, including Alexandria, Assiut, Menoufia, Dakahlia, Red Sea, Port Said, Sohag, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Suez, Qena, Kafr El-Sheikh, Beni Suef, Minya, Ismailia, Luxor, Aswan, Damietta and Fayoum," Gamea said.

On a related note, the Federation of Egyptian Industries will provide 60,000 Ramadan bags, to be distributed with the help of the social solidarity ministry.
