Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has received Saudi Minister of Commerce Majid al-Qasabi, to explore ways to expand economic cooperation between the two countries and join efforts to confront the current economic challenges on the regional and global levels.

The meeting was attended by Osama bin Ahmed Naqli, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Cairo.

It also discussed arrangements for the upcoming joint Egyptian-Saudi trade committee, to be hosted by the Kingdom next week and chaired by the two ministers of trade.

Gamea pointed to the significant rise in bilateral trade last year, despite the repercussions of the pandemic on the global economy, noting that Egyptian exports to Saudi Arabia grew 17.4% to $1.995 billion, compared to $1.699 billion in 2020.
