Ahmed Samir has received Brazilian ambassador in Cairo Antonio de Aguiar
Patriota to discuss developing mutual economic relations on bilateral and
multilateral levels, as well as latest changes in the global economy.
“Egypt and Brazil enjoy strategic long-standing
ties, namely in trade, industry, agriculture, transportation and investment,”
Samir said, commending the current fruitful cooperation in various fields.
The minister also highlighted the
importance of Egypt’s accession to Mercosur, which offers vast export opportunities
for its goods at competitive prices.
Patriota, for his part, pointed out
that Egypt is a key player in the Arab world and the second major economy in
Africa, noting that Brazil, as a Mercosur member, has numerous successful industrial
projects in the local market in bus manufacturing and fertilizers.
The ambassador further invited
Samir to visit Brazil leading a business delegation to explore opportunities
for potential cooperation in the Latin American market.
According to figures, trade between
the two countries hit $2.551 billion in 2021, up 29.5% from $1.969 billion a
year earlier, mainly including agricultural products, food and fertilizers.
