Trade Minister attends meeting on investment facilitation at WTO MC11

The meeting was held with the participation of around 40 member countries, to discuss means of facilitating investment within the WTO. 

Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil took part in a meeting organized by his Chinese counterpart Zhong Shan, on the sidelines of the WTO 11th Ministerial Conference, currently held in the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires. 

The meeting was held Sunday, with the participation of around 40 member countries, to discuss means of facilitating investment within the Organization. 

"Egypt believes that the current state of informal dialogue among member states could create an appropriate atmosphere for talks on investment facilitation measures in relation to the WTO current agreements," Kabil said during the meeting.

It is worth noting that there are a number of investment-related trade agreeements within the WTO, including: the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (ASCM), the Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMS), the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA)and the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).
