The meeting discussed
practical steps to achieve industrial and commercial integration between the three
countries, as well as identified target areas of cooperation.

Minister of Trade
and Industry Nevine Gamea has held a meeting- via video conference - with Jordanian
Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali and Iraqi Minister of Industry
and Minerals Manhal Aziz al-Khabbaz, with the participation of senior officials
at the ministry.
The meeting discussed
practical steps to achieve industrial and commercial integration between the three
countries, in light of the consensus between the Egyptian, Jordanian and Iraqi leaders.
The three
ministers agreed on target areas of joint cooperation, including: pharmaceutical,
chemical, petrochemical, leather and ceramics industries. They also studied the
establishment of a permanent exhibition for Egyptian and Jordanian products in Baghdad.
Moreover, the
ministers stressed the importance of facilitating the movement of trade, removing
the obstacles that hinder the flow of intra-trade and granting preferential
treatment on exports originating from the three countries.
The meeting also
reviewed the developments related to the establishment of an economic area on
the borders between Iraq and Jordan, to be a focal point for enhancing
industrial cooperation between the three countries, while making use of the
Egyptian industrial expertise in establishing and managing industrial zones.
Gamea noted that
an Egyptian technical team will visit Iraq in the next few days, with the participation
of the Jordanian embassy in the capital Baghdad, to identify the needs of the
Iraqi market of goods and explore the available investment opportunities.
