Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali al-Moselhi have held a meeting, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with heads of 27 chambers of commerce and representatives of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI).

The meeting explored means to provide basic commodities to consumers, especially ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

“The chambers of commerce are the government’s major partner in controlling prices and catering to the local market's needs,” Gamea said.

She noted that the chambers of commerce are studying contributing 2.5% of their cash reserves in the distribution of Ramadan food bags, in coordination with governors.

The minister further pointed to continuous coordination with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the FEI to ensure the availability of goods on the domestic market amid a global economic meltdown.
