Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine
Gamea, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali al-Moselhi have held a
meeting, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with heads
of 27 chambers of commerce and representatives of the Federation of Egyptian
Industries (FEI).
The meeting explored means to
provide basic commodities to consumers, especially ahead of the holy month of
Ramadan.
“The chambers of commerce are the
government’s major partner in controlling prices and catering to the local
market's needs,” Gamea said.
She noted that the chambers of
commerce are studying contributing 2.5% of their cash reserves in the distribution
of Ramadan food bags, in coordination with governors.
The minister further pointed to continuous
coordination with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the FEI to
ensure the availability of goods on the domestic market amid a global economic
meltdown.
