on the sidelines of the summit.

Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed
Samir has arrived this morning in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana to take part, on
behalf of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in the 6th Conference on Interaction and
Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held on October 12 and 13.
Just before leaving, Samir met with
Khairat Lama Sharif, ambassador of Kazakhstan in Egypt, to discuss boosting
mutual economic cooperation and explore topics on the CICA agenda.
“Egypt is keen on advancing bilateral
ties with Kazakhstan, for its pivotal role in Central Asia and being a potential
gateway for local exports to Asian markets,” he said.
The minister is scheduled to hold a
series of meetings with senior official, on the sidelines of the summit, including
Kazakh ministers of trade and industry.
The Conference on Interaction and
Confidence Building Measures in Asia is a multi-national forum for
enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability on the
continent.
