Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has presided over the 43rd COMESA Council of Ministers
meeting, held in Lusaka, Zambia- the first physical meeting of the Council in
the last two years since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting was
attended by ministers responsible for the coordination of COMESA activities at
the national level in the 21 member states. Key issues on the agenda were a
report from the Intergovernmental Committee covering progress reports on the implementation
of COMESA programs.
On the sidelines of
the event, Samir held cooperation talks with high-ranking officials and
counterparts from member countries, including: COMESA Secretary-General Chileshe
Kapwepwe, Zambian Vice-President Mutale Nalumango, Minister of Commerce, Trade
and Industry Chipoka Mulenga, Kenyan Minister of Trade Musa Kyari, Burundian Minister
of Commerce, Transport, Industry and Tourism Marie Chantal Nijimbere and Malawian
Minister of Trade and Industry Mark Katsonga.
