Minister
of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar has met with a delegation from Japanese giant carmaker
Toyota, led by Toshimitsu Imai, Toyota Tsusho’s chief operations officer in
charge of the Africa division, who is currently visiting Egypt.
The
meeting discussed the company’s desire to take part in the national project to
convert public transport diesel vehicles into gas-powered ones, where it has a
vast expertise.
The
two sides also discussed Toyota’s expansion plans in Egypt, including car assembling
and manufacturing lines, as well as exporting opportunities to regional and
international markets.
“We
are fully committed to offer all support to foreign investors,” Nassar
stressed.
The
meeting comes as a follow-up to President Abdel Fattah Sisi’s talks with the
head of Toyota Motor Corporation on the sidelines of G20 summit, held in Osaka,
Japan, last June.
