Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has issued a decree stopping the export of all kinds of oil, grits and corn for a period of three months, as of its publication date in the official gazette.

“The decision was made after coordination with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, within the government’s efforts to cover local market needs of staple commodities, especially in light of preparations for the high-consumption period of Ramadan,” Gamea said.

The move comes two days after the ministry had issued another decree halting the export of beans (both dried and crushed), lentils, pasta, wheat and flour of all kinds for a period of three months too.
