Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has affirmed that
developing the industrial sector is fundamental to achieve the objectives of
the “National Structural Reform Programme” (NSRP), recently launched by the
Egyptian government, to stimulate the economy and bolster comprehensive and
sustainable growth.
“We
aim to create an advanced system for the local industry, that is more modern
and which provides equal opportunities for every citizen,” Gamea said in her
latest statements.
The ministry, she noted, has specified a set of goals in this
respect, including: localizing and deepening the industry, keeping pace with
global changes, increasing the added value of manufactured products, supporting
SMEs as well as large companies, both local and international, and adopting
green technologies in production.
Gamea further added that it has laid out a program for the
structural reform of the industrial sector, that focuses on reviewing investment
and operation costs of manufacturing, targeting specific industrial sectors, establishing
more industrial clusters, and supporting the transition to a green economy.
