Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has announced launching the “National Contest for Typical Products” starting March 15, with the participation of 165 official entities from 22 governorates and a total of 763 locally-made food products, in its first edition.
"It is a successful mechanism for introducing Egyptian specialties, preserving the country's cuisine, while contributing to the economic development of the regions working in the sector within the "Decent Life" presidential initiative," Gamea said.
The contest, she added, aims to promote traditional foods, boost the sector's sales, create jobs and link it with the tourism industry.
