Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has issued a decree imposing final anti-dumping duties on imports of aluminum products, including moulds, cylinders and wire, for a period of three years.

The tariffs, effective starting mid-April, will be at a rate of 16.5% of cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value with a minimum of $333 per tonne for the first year, 13.5% of the (CIF) value with a minimum of $271 per tonne for the second year, and 10.5% of the CIF value with a minimum of $211 per tonne for the third year.

Ibrahim Al-Sigini, assistant minister for economic affairs, said that the minister had previously agreed, in April 2020, to initiate an anti-dumping investigation into the huge increase in imports of aluminum products upon recommendation of the advisory committee, following complaints by the local industry.
