A delegation from Egypt National
Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC) - affiliated with the Technology and
Innovation Center- and the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) has visited Tunisia
to explore its experience in the field of solar water heating in industries.
The visit comes within an organized
exchange of expertise under the “Solar Heating in Industrial Processes (SHIP)
Project”, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by
UNIDO in partnership with ENCPC.
“Egypt seeks to improve the efficiency of renewable
energy applications in the national industry and the quality of consumer
services and products, as well as deepen local manufacturing,” said Mohamed
Abdel Karim, CEO of the IMC.
The general objective of SHIP is to
develop the market environment for the diffusion and local manufacturing of
solar energy systems for industrial process heat in key industrial sectors:
Food, Textile and Chemical of great potential for solar thermal uses.
