Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has visited Robbiki Leather City and toured a number of tanneries,
the technological center and glue factories there.
The minister was accompanied by
Mahmoud Mehrez, president of the Cairo Investment and Urban Development Company
in charge of the project; Mohamed Abdel Karim, CEO of the Industrial
Modernization Center; and Ahmed Reda, general supervisor of the ministry’s
technology centers.
“The ministry devotes special
attention to the leather industry, aiming to turn Egypt into a strategic hub
not only locally or regionally but also internationally, through achieving
integration in value chains,” Samir said.
Robbiki, he added, is one of the major specialized industrial cities
designed after the latest international standards, at a total investment cost
of $7.2 billion.
