Industry minister, Kazakh counterpart discuss future cooperation

Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir has met with Kairbek Uskenbayev, Kazakhstan’s minister of industry and infrastructure development, during his visit to the capital Astana to participate in the 6th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

The meeting discussed means to further boost economic cooperation between the two countries and mutually benefit from their industrial expertise, mainly in the field of pharmaceuticals.

Samir pointed out that there are ample opportunities for partnership, in the mining, transportation and logistics sectors, and more notably in the establishment of a Kazkh industrial zone in Egypt to be an export gateway into Africa and the Arab world.

The minister, furthermore, invited Uskenbayev to visit Egypt at the head of a business delegation to explore the investment opportunities available in the local market, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
