NAC- June 1, 2022
Mohamed Abdel Kareem, CEO of the
Industrial Modernization Center, has participated in a session on artificial
intelligence (AI) and digitization on the second day of the “Egypt Can By
Industry” conference, held in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and
organized by the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs in
cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, along with other ministries
concerned.
The event was attended by Minister
of Immigration Nabila Makram, President of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI)
Reem Bahgat, as well as a host of Egyptian expat scientists specializing in AI and
digital technology.
“Egypt is keen on developing its national
industry, through the localization of technology and AI,” Abdel Kareem said,
noting that, over the past years, it has built a strong infrastructure that
serves all sectors especially manufacturing, being the economic growth engine.
The government, he pointed out, is
focusing on establishing more SMEs, embracing state-of-the-art technologies and
integrating into regional and global supply chains; all within the ministry’s
plan to achieve $100 billion in exports.
He added that the IMC aims to link
education output to labor market needs; through partnering with various
research centers and studying the challenges facing different economic sectors.
