Minister of Trade and Industry
Ahmed Samir has announced launching 1000 industrial units with utilities
included by the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) in three industrial
estates in the governorates of Qena, Assiut and Aswan.
The parks span different industries
including: chemicals, engineering, food, pharmaceuticals, building materials
and textiles.
The move is part of the “Your
Factory is Ready with a License” presidential initiative to employ youths, support
SMEs and open up new development horizons in Upper Egypt. It also comes under
the ministry’s plan aiming to set up 17 industrial complexes in 15 governorates
at an overall cost of EGP 10 billion.
“Establishing more SME parks is
high on the ministry’s action plan which primarily seeks to deepen local
manufacturing,” Samir said, pointing to the unprecedented support given to this
goal from the Egyptian administration.
