economic empowerment to enhance their contribution to economic development.
Cairo- Mar 14, 2022
Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine
Gamea has taken part in in the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX)’s celebration of the
International Women's Day
“Egypt is committed to women’s
economic empowerment to enhance their contribution to economic development,”
Gamea said in her speech, noting that the ministry is keen to implement the National
Strategy for the Empowerment of Women 2030 as one of the objectives of Egypt
Vision 2030.
Egyptian women, the minister highlighted,
have a key role in preserving the country’s heritage crafts, owning 75% of
micro-enterprises that receive financial and technical support from the Medium,
Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency.
She pointed out that the ministry
supported women’s active participation in “Turathna” (Our Heritage)
exhibition, held in October 2021.
Gamea further added that a
ministerial decree was issued early this year to form a Women and Equal Opportunities
unit to ensure equality between male and female workers, as
well as help solve their problems.
