The ministry is
adopting a comprehensive strategy to deepen local manufacturing and increase export
levels, Gamea said.

Minister
of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has taken part in the opening session of the
third Egypt Economic Summit, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, in
the presence of Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Saeed and
a host of businessmen.
“The
industry sector is the main locomotive for achieving national plans towards a
comprehensive, sustainable economic reform,” Gamea said in her keynote speech,
noting that the ministry is adopting a comprehensive strategy to deepen local manufacturing
and increase export levels, in coordination with all state agencies.
The
ministry, she pointed out, is currently implementing a100-incentive measure
scheme aiming to improve the industrial climate and increase the country’s production
capacity in the short, medium and long terms, 30 of which have already been
completed related to nine ministries.
Similarly,
a strategic plan has been formulated to access more markets and enhance the
competitiveness of Egyptian products in order to reach the target of $100
billion in exports annually, Gamea added.
She
further added that these measures have pushed up exports to hit $25.9 billion during
the first ten months of the year, up 24.5% from the same period in 2020, as
well as the industrial sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP to 17% during
the fiscal year 2019/2020 compared to 16% during 2018/2019.
