The minister inaugurated four engineering
industries expos: MacTech, Handling, Airtech and Earth Moving.

Minister
of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has inaugurated four exhibitions specialized
in the field of engineering industries, including “MacTech” for machinery and
equipment; “Handling” for cranes, winches and packaging machines; “Airtech” for
compressors, air dryers and pumps; and “Earth Moving” for heavy equipment,
excavators and loaders.
The
inauguration was attended by Ajit Gupte, ambassador of India in Cairo, and Mohamed
al-Mohandes, chairman of the Chamber of Engineering Industries at the
Federation of Egyptian Industries.
“The
engineering industries is one of the key production sectors of the Egyptian
economy, covering the local market demand for machinery and equipment essential
in the manufacturing and services sectors, thus, maintaining production,” Gamea
said.
Some
200 companies from different countries around the world are participating in the
exhibitions, mainly from Germany, China, Turkey, Taiwan and India.
According
to official figures, engineering and electronic industries is Egypt’s fourth
largest export sector, registering $2.294 billion during the first nine months
of the year, up 42% from $1.612 billion during the same period in 2020.
Britain,
Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE are among the sector’s top export
markets. Its main exported goods include: equipment, electrical and electronic
appliances, agricultural machinery, pumps, boilers, engines and car components.
