Egypt is
keen to empower women and enhance their role in building the society, as a key
partner in sustainable economic development, Gamea said.

On behalf
of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea
has inaugurated the Business Women of Egypt 21(BWE21)’s seventh annual conference,
entitled “Women for Success: From Surviving to Thriving,” held at the National Museum
of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, with the participation of USAID Mission
Director in Egypt Leslie Reed and head of the BWE21Yomna al-Sheridy.
“Egypt is
keen to empower women and enhance their role in building the society, as a key
partner in sustainable economic development,” Gamea said, noting that Egyptian
women are strongly present in a large number of industrial projects that
provide thousands of job opportunities and enhance economic growth, in addition
to a large number of women entrepreneurs in various economic sectors.
The minister
added that Egypt adopted, in 2017, the National Strategy for the Empowerment of
Women 2030, in line with Egypt Vision 2030, and assigned the year to be the
"Year of Egyptian Women".
The ministry,
she pointed out, is committed to supporting small women founders to overcome
the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. In cooperation with the International
Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, it launched the “She Trades” project, which helps
handicraft SMEs owned by Egyptian women integrate into local and global value
chains, as well as access new markets.
