Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has held a virtual
meeting with representatives of the World Bank, led by Mohamed Nada, senior
urban specialist at the World Bank Group, to discuss the latest developments in
the Upper Egypt Local Development Project for Results.
The objective of the PforR Project, which kicked off in 2018,
is to improve the business environment
for private sector development and strengthen local government capacity for
quality infrastructure and service delivery in select governorates in Upper Egypt,
namely: Sohag and Qena.
“The government is keen to strengthen cooperation with the
World Bank in all ongoing mutual programs, especially the Upper Egypt Local
Development PforR,” Gamea stressed.
She further added that the project has made headway, with its
beneficiaries going up to 5 million out of a total of 8 million citizens in the
two governorates, in addition to beneficiary companies rising to 4,000.
