Minister of Trade and Industry
Nevine Gamea has met with Hani Sonbol, the CEO of the International Islamic Trade
Finance Corporation (ITFC), and his accompanying delegation to review its
action plan in Egypt in 2022 and ongoing projects in the fields of trade promotion

“The ITFC is one of Egypt’s key development

as well as boost trade ties between Arab and African countries through the Aid
for Trade Initiative for Arab States (AfTIAS),” Gamea said.
The two sides also discussed
organizing the “Turathna” (Our Heritage) fair during the annual meeting of
the
Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group, to be held in Sharm
al-Sheikh in June, with the participation of 57 countries and over 3,000
attendees.
The minister noted that
preparations are underway to establish the first exporter academy in Egypt, in
cooperation with the ITFC, which offers training
programs to support Egyptian exporters and develop their potential to access
more foreign markets.
Sonbol, for his part, pointed out
that the corporation will participate in the next COP 27 hosted in Egypt in
November and that the annual meeting of the Arab Africa Trade Bridge (AATB) Program will also take place in Egypt on March 14-15.
He further added that the ITFC has
approved $2.6 billion to fund development projects in Egypt, and supports 50
SMEs owned by Egyptian women entrepreneurs in the export-oriented handicraft
sector.
