Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with Major
General Bahaa Zeidan, head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement
"UPA", to discuss ways to implement the President's initiative to
support young doctors.
The meeting was attended by Vice President of the Micro,
Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) Tarek Shash, and Chairman
of Egypt Expo & Convention Authority Mai Assal.
The two officials agreed on developing an action plan to organize
specialized exhibitions in Cairo and major governorates, to provide medical
equipment for doctors and radiology centers through soft financing programs,
in cooperation with the Doctors’ Syndicate.
The fairs, Gamea noted, will be held under the auspices of
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, starting in Greater Cairo, then in the governorates
of Upper and Lower Egypt.
“The move aims to encourage young doctors to start their
working lives, benefiting from the wide range of services provided by the
government,” the minister said, pointing to the Central Bank’s current drive towards
increasing the financing portfolio for small and medium projects to 25% in
various productive sectors.
The minister explained that the initiative will be
implemented by manufacturers and importers of medical equipment, the MSMEDA as
well as financial institutions.
