MTI aims to
expand the establishment of industrial complexes in all governorates to serve
various production sectors.
Alexandria- Feb 12, 2022
Minister of
Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has met with Vice President of the Engineering
Authority of the Armed Forces for the Northern Region Ahmed al-Azzazi, at the
headquarters of the Northern Region, to discuss plans for setting up an
industrial zone in the second phase of the “Masharef” project, in
Alexandria, over an area of 1,000 acres.
The meeting
was attended by Mohamed El-Zalat, head of the Industrial Development Authority;
Mahmoud Mahrez, president of Cairo Investment Company; and Mohamed Anwar, head
of the Executive Authority for Industrial Projects.
“MTI aims to
expand the establishment of industrial complexes in all governorates to serve various
production sectors,” Gamea said, noting that this would contribute to deepening
local manufacturing, providing market needs and creating more job opportunities.
She stressed
the ministry’s keenness to develop specialized industrial complexes with fully-equipped
units for investors to start immediate production, adding that they would significantly
help achieve integration between production and supply chains.
The new 1,550-acre
project in Amreya, Alexandria, is an integrated city. The first phase covers
an area of 550 acres with a total capacity of 60,000 housing units and about
480,000 square meters of commercial property; it also provides alternative
housing- 40,000 housing units- to slum dwellers.
