Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has held a meeting
with members of Businesswomen of Egypt 21 (BWE21), led by Chairperson
Yomna El Sheridy, and 12 businesswomen in the fields of medical, engineering,
detergents and petrochemical industries.
The meeting explored ways the ministry could support the
business community, the challenges facing businesswomen in Egypt and ways to
address them in cooperation with all the authorities concerned.
“We are committed to creating an investment-conducive climate
and to help investors, especially in light of the current economic crisis
around the world,” Gamea said, highlighting the main role of Egyptian women in
achieving economic growth, boosting exports, increasing production rates and
improving living standards.
The ministry, she added, spares no effort in facilitating the
business environment by streamlining industrial licensing procedures, pointing
out that the automation of all the Industrial Development Authority’s offices has
been completed.
The meeting also reviewed a number of demands submitted by members
of the BWE21, including recent decrees related to documentary credits, rise
in fees of the Food Safety Authority and high costs of participation in
exhibitions, among others.
