Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has held an expanded meeting
with senior officials to discuss preparations for Egypt’s participation as a
guest of honor at the 25th St Petersburg International Economic
Forum (SPIEF’ 25), to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 15–18.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany and Minister of Higher
Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended the meeting, as well as heads of the Arab
Organization for Industrialization and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, representatives
of the ministries of foreign affairs and communications, in addition to Yasser
Mostafa, head of the Egyptian commercial office in Russia, via video
conference.
The meeting aimed to coordinate between the various ministries and relevant
authorities regarding the organization of the Egyptian pavilion at the forum, intended
to reflect the country’s current economic achievements and vision for the
future.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry had been assigned by Prime Minsiter
Mostafa Madbouly to oversee the establishment and equipment of the pavilion,
after its successful story at Expo 2020 Dubai. The Egyptian and Russian presidents
are scheduled to visit Egypt Pavilion at SPIEF’ 25.
Anani highlighted the significance of the event in promoting Egypt as one
of the world’s top touristic and archeological destinations, especially with Russia
being Egypt’s most valuable tourism export markets.
For his part, Abdel Ghaffar stressed that the forum would play a key role
in boosting investment between Egypt and Russia, mainly in the fields of higher
education, scientific research and healthcare.
