Gamea emphasized the necessity for concerted efforts from
all Arab governments to enhance economic cooperation and achieve regional integration.

Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has participated through
video conference in the 107th Session of the League of Arab States Council at
the Ministerial Level, with the participation of Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul
Gheit, Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Raoul Nehme, who is also president of the current session, along
with other ministers and heads of delegations of Arab member states.
Gamea emphasized the necessity
for concerted efforts from all Arab governments to enhance economic cooperation
in the region and achieve integration in all fields, notably in trade, industry
and investment, especially in light of the coronavirus global crisis.
“The Egyptian political
leadership is keen to support joint Arab action on all levels, especially on
the economic and social ones,” she added.
The minister further stressed the
need to activate the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), which is one of the
most important achievements of the council, and the first step towards Arab
economic integration and the realization of the Arab Customs Union which would
help Arab countries keep pace with global trends.
