Gamea has chaired the first meeting of the ad hoc committee tasked with setting up
governance rules for the prosthesis and orthosis market.
The meeting explored the committee’s
tasks within the national drive towards deepening local manufacturing of
prosthetic and orthotic appliances, and discussed means to develop its domestic
market highly dependent on imports- which hit $48.6 million in 2020.
“The recommendations of the
committee will be a first step in the potential national project to establish a
comprehensive industrial park for prostheses and orthoses,” Gamea said.
