Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine
Gamea and Sudan’s Acting Minister of Trade and Supply Amal Saleh Saad have
chaired meetings of the joint trade committee held in Cairo on August 9-10 to
discuss means of expanding mutual cooperation between both countries.
“We are keen on further deepening relations
with Sudan, especially in terms of trade, industry and investment,” Gamea said,
noting that it is one of Egypt’s principle trading partner in Africa and the Arab
world.
She highlighted the need to exert
more efforts to eliminate obstacle hindering bilateral trade flows, which stood
at $1.165 billion in 2021, up 60% from a year earlier.
Saad, for her part, stressed the
strategic ties binding Sudan with Egypt which boosts its access to EU markets, pointing
out that her country is a gateway too for Egyptian exports into Africa.
