Minister of
Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea has taken part in a symposium entitled “The New
Republic: Achievements Realized," held in Hurghada within the second
parliamentary forum of the “Mostaqbal Watan” (Future of Homeland) Party's parliamentary
authority.
Minister of
Housing Assem al-Gazzar participated in the event, along with a host of deputies
and political figures.
“Egypt has
made great efforts over the past seven years to achieve radical economic
reforms, provide a decent life for its citizens and enhance its position as a
land of promising opportunities,” Gamea said.
In her keynote
speech, the minister reviewed the country’s massive achievements in recent
years, which have led to a boom in the Egyptian society on the economic and
social levels, noting that through Egypt Vision 2030, its sustainable development
strategy, Egypt will possess a competitive, balanced and
diversified economy, dependent on innovation and knowledge, and based on
justice and social integrity by 2030.
The
government, she pointed out, has taken significant steps towards promoting
industrialization, increasing exports and boosting their added value, including
100 measures put in place to stimulate local industry and export rates.
Numerous industrial
complexes have been set up in 13 governorates at a cost of EGP10 billion, and
some 7,540 industrial licenses and 7,454 operating permits issued, Gamea added.
The minister
further highlighted the impact of these tremendous efforts on Egypt’s foreign
trade, pushing up non-oil exports to $32.4 billion in 2021, up 27% from $25.4
billion a year earlier.
