Some 53 Egyptian companies and publishing houses have taken part in the international book fairs in Sharjah and Algiers.

The Export Development Authority (EDA), in coordination with the Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper and Books; have organized the Egyptian participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) and Algiers International Book Fair "SILA", which were both held from 30 October to 9 November in the UAE city of Sharjah and the capital Algiers respectively.
Abdul Aziz al-Sherif, chairman of the (EDA), said that the Sharjah International Book Fair, at its thirty-eighth session, is considered the third biggest book exhibition in the world, adding that the Egyptian pavilion was established over an area of 489 square meters with the participation of 37 publishing houses, in cooperation with the Egyptian Commercial Office in UAE.
Mohamed Nasser, the Egyptian pavilion manager, clarified that the expo featured about 1800 scientific activities, workshops and discussion sessions to exchange experiences between Arab publishers and their counterparts from other countries.
As for Algeria's international book fair, Sherif said that it is an annual cultural event for books and writings, organized under the auspices of the Algerian Ministry of Culture, pointing out that 16 companies participated at the Egyptian pavilion, set up over an area of 298 square meters with a great support from the Egyptian Commercial Office in Algeria.
He noted that the Egyptian pavilion included a variety of historical, literary, doctrinal and cultural publications, and others that highlight the touristic and cultural aspects of Egypt
