Egyptian-Romanian business forum in Bucharest during the first half of 2022.

The Egyptian
Commercial Service has met with a Romanian government delegation, led by Secretary
of State within the Ministry of Economy Daniela Nicolescu, to follow up on the
results of Romanian President Klaus Johannes’s visit to Cairo in October, which
included economic meetings and a joint business forum.
The
meeting discussed establishing a Romanian industrial area in the Suez Canal economic
zone and an Egyptian-Romanian consortium to implement construction projects in both
Egypt and Romania as well as African countries.
The
two sides agreed to organize a visit to Egypt by Romanian companies interested
in investing in the local market, and another to Romania by Egyptian firms
working in furniture, wood, food, chemical and engineering industries during
the first half of 2022.
They
also agreed to hold a business forum on the sidelines of the next Egyptian-Romanian
joint committee, to be held in Bucharest during the first six months of next
year.
According
to official data, Egyptian exports to Romania hit $107 million during the first
half of the year, up 48% from 2020. Romania is considered a hub for Egyptian exports
to enter the Balkan countries.
