Cairo- Apr 19, 2022
The European co-operation for Accreditation
(EA), the association of national accreditation bodies, has extended its
recognition of the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) until May 2024 for Proficiency
Testing Providers (PTP), to be the first recognized Arab and African entity in the
field.
“The international recognition of the EGAC will maintain a smooth
flow of trade between Egypt and the European Union, especially that Egypt is the
EU’s largest trading partner,” Gamea said.
EGAC is a non-profit government organization
affiliated to the Ministry of Trade and Industry. In 2009, it obtained international
recognition from the two international accreditation organizations: the International
Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation
Forum (IAF), by signing the Multilateral Recognition Agreement (MLA) and Mutual
Recognition Agreement (MRA). It is also recognized regionally by both
the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) and the
Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC).
