The Egyptian National Cleaner
Production Center (ENCPC) has organized a workshop to explore means of
cooperation with the authorities concerned to launch a proposed platform for
exchanging industrial waste.
Representatives of a large number
of local and international research and financing entities took part in the workshop,
including the UNIDO, World Bank, German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ),
and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), among others.
“The event comes as the ministry prepares
for Egypt’s hosting of the upcoming COP27 in November,” said Ahmed Reda, assistant
Minister of Trade and Industry for industrial affairs and supervisor of the
MTI’s technology centers.
At an estimated investment cost of
EGP 15 million, the project will have 300 companies, 120 entrepreneurs and 100
researchers participating; and would help promote the Egyptian experience in
handling industrial waste within the country’s efforts to transition into green
economy.
