The meeting announced Bahrain’s accession
to the Industrial Partnership with Egypt, UAE and Jordan.

The second meeting of the
Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Growth higher committee kicked
off today in Cairo, co-chaired by Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry
Nevine Gamea, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber
and Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef al-Shamali.
The meeting featured the
announcement of Bahrain’s accession to the partnership, with the participation
of the country’s Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid al-Zayani.
It also adopted the recommendations
of the executive committee which met over the last two days and compiled a list
of 87 proposed projects in the targeted sectors of agriculture, food,
fertilizers and drugs- 12 of which are eligible for feasibility studies at an initial
investment cost of $3.4 billion.
“The partnership with the UAE,
Jordan and Bahrain will boost cooperation to achieve self-sufficiency and integration
in the value chains of the Arab countries, through joint industrial projects,”
Gamea said.
