The Extraordinary Ministerial-Level
Session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council (ESC) opened today at
its headquarters in Cairo, with the participation of delegations from various
Arab countries.
The meeting addressed several key
issues on its agenda, including the progress on the Greater Arab Free Trade
Area, the establishment of the Arab Customs Union, ways of promoting
cooperation in digital economy and enhancing post-pandemic Arab economic growth.
“We need to step up joint efforts to
achieve Arab economic integration, and eliminate customs and non-customs
barriers in order to boost intra trade flows and lure more capital into the
region,” Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea said in a speech delivered
on her behalf by ministry Undersecretary Dina Mahmoud.
