African
industry ministers held yesterday a round
table, within the Made In Africa (MIA) workshop, organized by the Trade and
Industry Ministry in the new administrative capital on November 20-22.
Participants
in the roundtable included ministers from: Egypt, Nigeria, Gabon, Democratic Republic
of Congo, Ghana, Gambia, Mozambique and Somalia.
The
ministers agreed on a clear roadmap to enhance industrial cooperation among
African countries and on holding “MIA” as
an annual platform to follow up on efforts to achieve industrial integration
across the Dark Continent.
The workshop,
which ended today, produced a set of recommendations, including: mapping
African resources and enhancing regional value chains, upgrading the industrial
structure in African countries, finding new financing mechanisms for SMEs, and
designing a unified “Made In Africa” trademark to promote African products and
services.
