“Egypt is among Africa’s heavyweights and was
one of the few countries that achieved economic growth of about 3.57% during
the pandemic in 2019/2020,” Gamea said in her speech at the virtual event.
The industrial sector, she added,
was the country’s key economic growth driver, contributing 17.1% to the GDP in
2019/2020 compared to 16.4 % a year earlier, and growing 1.4%, although less
than the 2.8% of last year.
