Minister of Trade and Industry has met with a high-level Japanese
delegation led by State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yoshihiko Isozaki, currently visiting Cairo to participate in the fifth
Japan–Arab Economic Forum held Monday in Cairo.
The meeting explored potential areas of cooperation between Egypt
and Japan during the coming period, especially following the
Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), held in
Japan last August.
The two sides
also agreed to form a joint Egyptian-Japanese work group to help facilitate
trade flows between the two countries and eliminate barriers hindering Japanese
companies already investing or desiring to invest in Egypt.
Isozaki,
for his part, said that mutual relations between
their respective countries gained momentum in recent years, noting that Japan
is keen to boost its investments in Egypt where 50 Japanese companies are
already operating.
