Ministry of Trade, Industry launches first industrial investment map

In a press conference organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Migration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad,  Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil announced launching Egypt’s first comprehensive industrial investment map, which includes the different opportunities available in the industrial sector, based on the competitive advantages of each governorate.

“It is one of the most remarkable results of the ministry’s strategy for industrial development, adopted over a year ago,” Kabil said.

The map, he explained, includes 4,136 real investment opportunities in eight industrial sectors, namely: 1,265 opportunities in the engineering industries, 861 in chemicals, 649 in food products, 605 in textiles, 395 in the mining industries, 183 in pharmaceuticals, 122 in metal industries, and 56 in leather manufacturing.

“Small industries comprise the largest share (56%) of the present opportunities, followed by medium-sized industries (23%),  micro industries (13%) and finally large-scale industries (8%),” Kabil added.

According to the new map, Alexandria tops the 27 Egyptian investment-attractive governorates with 205 investment opportunities available, followed by Minufiya and Beni Suef with 196 opportunities each, and Minya with 190 opportunities.
