Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi have witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Tank Production and Repair Factory (Military Factory 200) and MCV (Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles), in the field of transferring and localizing electric bus manufacturing technology.

The protocol was signed by Rafiq Rizk, head of Military Factory 200, and Karim Ghabbour, chairman and managing director of MCV,  in the presence of Mohamed Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa, vice chairman and managing director of the National Organization for Military Production (NOMP), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Military Production.

“The agreement comes in line with the growing national shift towards the use of vehicles that run on clean energy,” Gamea said, pointing to the latest presidential initiative launched at the “Go Green Exhibition,” Egypt’s first expo for vehicle replacement and clean energy conversion technologies, held in January.

She stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the government and various national and international carmakers, with the aim of localizing electric car manufacturing and transferring car-building related expertise.

The ministry, she added, is currently developing a comprehensive strategy for the auto industry and its feeding industries that aims to establish a real national car industry that meets the needs of the local market and export to regional and global ones.
