Buenos Aires- Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil participated in the African Ministerial meeting held within the WTO Eleventh Ministerial Conference (MC11), in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the participation  of a large number of trade ministers from across Africa.

"Egypt remains fully committed to pursuing the interests of our continent in the WTO," Kabil said during the meeting, noting that the biggest challenge at that crucial juncture is "playing a major role in shaping the future framework of the WTO to ensure it includes the African Agenda."

He said more efforts should be done to reinforce the Multilateral Trading System and the WTO's role in addressing both traditional and untraditional issues that are constantly coming to the forefront.

"In addition to the conclusion of the Doha Development Agenda which should significantly contribute to a better future of the WTO, a number of key issues need to be dealt with effectively such as: trade in services, e-commerce, agriculture and fish subsidies," he added.

He also highlighted the need to offer special and differential treatment for developing and least developed countries, to help them achieve their developmental objectives.
